Latino Day at Carroll Prep: Celebrating Spanish Language and Culture!
In September, Carroll Prep proudly hosts Latino Day, a vibrant event dedicated to celebrating the rich Spanish language and diverse cultures of Spanish-speaking countries. During this special day, our students immerse themselves in learning about the countries where Spanish is spoken as the official language, gaining insight into their unique traditions, histories, and contributions to the world.
We are honored to collaborate with several embassies and universities, who partner with us to share authentic cultural experiences and knowledge, making the event both educational and engaging. From music, dance, and food to interactive workshops, our students have an unforgettable time while expanding their understanding of the global community.
This year, the children had a blast cutting fresh fruit and mixing non-alcoholic Sangría, guided by two foreign teachers from Thammasat University. The Embassy of Guatemala shared a captivating presentation on the Guatemala Festival of Giant Kites and showed a 9-minute animated film that highlighted the beauty of Guatemalan culture. The Embassy of Peru engaged the kids with fun plaster painting activities, and the Embassy of Chile brought an exciting mask coloring activity for everyone to enjoy.
At Carroll Prep, we also introduce our students to the Spanish language once a week, raising awareness of the many languages spoken around the world. With Spanish being one of the most widely spoken languages globally, it opens the door to learning other European languages and prepares our students to become true world citizens. Through fun, exploration, and meaningful learning, Carroll Prep ensures our students are ready to embrace the diverse world around them!
A big thank you to Thammasat University, the Embassy of Guatemala, the Embassy of Peru, and the Embassy of Chile for making this day so memorable. We’d also like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the parents for their incredible support, including arranging the photographer for the event!
