Project-based learning involves children engaging in projects that they find meaningful and interesting, which have real-world consequences. Typically, project topics stem from student curiosity, and teachers then utilize these interests to expand upon and gather information to address problems or questions.

Projects can span anywhere from two weeks to several months and draw upon skills from various fields, mirroring real-life work experiences. Children engage in brainstorming, trial and error, and problem-solving until they arrive at solutions, culminating in a presentation to the public.

As a result, projects go beyond simple activities like drawing, painting, cutting, and pasting, incorporating multiple components as depicted in the picture.

Carroll Prep adopts the project-based learning approach from kindergarten onwards, with projects becoming increasingly complex based on the child’s abilities. An example of this is the Butterfly Pea Project.
