Kindergarten Program at Carroll Prep

At Carroll Prep School, our Kindergarten program is designed to provide young learners with a strong foundation in both academic and social-emotional skills, fostering a love for learning that lasts a lifetime. Our curriculum is guided by the Early Childhood Curriculum B.E. 2560 [A.D. 2017] from the Ministry of Education, Thailand, and The Kindergarten Program (2016) from Ontario, offering a unique blend of educational excellence and cultural relevance.

Motivate with Love!

We truly believe that one of the most important key foundations of learning is LOVE. In his learning centers, Mr Carroll taught students of different ages from many different schools, but he always saw the same problems: the same stresses, the same lack of enthusiasm, the same struggles. He noticed students as young as four years-old already “checked out” and reluctant to learn, and he encountered older students who actively hated school and learning. We don’t want that for our students.

As babies, children have an innate curiosity. They’re eager to explore the world around them, soaking up new information and skills like sponges. However, somewhere along the way, this natural love of learning is often LOST. Many children grow to dislike and even dread school and learning new things.

Fortunately, the love of learning can be developed and cultivated. That is what we do at Carroll Prep. It is our primary concern that we nuture and protect that “flame” inside each child. It is so easy to snuff it out and so hard to re-ignite it, so it is our goal to protect and inspire that passion for learning.

A Unique Learning Environment

At Carroll Prep, our Kindergarten classrooms follow an open classroom design—there are no dividing walls, and no fixed desks and chairs that confine children to one spot. We believe that children should be free to move, choose, and learn in ways that feel natural to them.

This type of environment aligns with the developmental principle of self-regulation. Children have the opportunity to explore their interests, discover who they are, develop personal preferences, and learn to engage with peers of different ages in a flexible and safe setting.

Here, each child can grow at their own pace, because our spaces are designed to adapt and evolve along with the children’s developmental needs.

Experienced Educators

Experienced Educators and a Strong Team Teaching System
At Carroll Prep, every teacher brings a deep understanding of early childhood development and undergoes intensive training to meet our high standards. This ensures they can deliver our curriculum creatively and effectively. We also place great emphasis on ongoing professional development, so our educators stay current in both educational theory and best teaching practices.

We implement a Team Teaching model—this means it’s never just “one teacher for one group of children.” Instead, every teacher on the team knows and cares for every child. Student information is shared through a centralized system, allowing for seamless support and continuous learning, even when changes in staffing occur.

We don’t depend on any single individual, because we understand the reality of today’s world: people don’t often stay in one job forever. Of course, we do our best to retain great teachers, but we don’t view turnover as something inherently negative—as long as the system is strong.

What truly matters is the strength of the school’s system—a system that can adapt to change while still delivering high-quality learning and emotional support without interruption.

We have dedicated Floor Captains and a Principal who oversee quality and coordination across classrooms. Our school is designed for transparency and accessibility, allowing parents to connect easily with our leadership team and provide feedback. This enables us to respond quickly and continue improving every day.

Inclusive and Adaptive Teaching for Every Child

We believe that every child is unique and shines in their own way.
That’s why our teaching approach is intentionally designed to meet the diverse needs of all learners.

By applying the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL), our teachers carefully plan lessons that are accessible to every child—regardless of their learning style, pace, or abilities. This approach ensures that all students feel valued, supported, and empowered to grow into the best version of themselves.

While implementing UDL can be challenging—and often seen as nearly impossible in traditional school settings—at Carroll Prep, we have intentionally designed our learning environments, teaching systems, teaching teams, and classroom culture to align with this philosophy.

Because we understand that “good design begins with a deep understanding of children’s differences,” we’ve created a truly inclusive space—one where no child is left behind and where every child is given the opportunity to grow with pride, confidence, and a strong sense of self.

Whole Child Development

At Carroll Prep, we focus on the holistic development of each child. Our Kindergarten program goes beyond academics, emphasizing social-emotional learning, creativity, and physical well-being. Through play-based learning, structured activities, and collaborative projects, children develop essential skills such as problem-solving, critical thinking, and effective communication.

Building a Strong Foundation

Our Kindergarten curriculum is thoughtfully structured to prepare children for the academic challenges of primary school.
We integrate core subjects such as language, mathematics, science, and social studies with creative disciplines like art, music, and drama to provide a well-rounded education that supports both academic growth and essential life skills.

We place strong emphasis on developing self-regulation, resilience, and a positive self-concept, helping children build inner confidence and emotional strength to face the world with courage and a healthy mindset.

Most importantly, we preserve Thai identity and the Thai language as an integral part of every child’s learning experience.
While many schools increasingly prioritize foreign languages—often at the expense of the mother tongue—Carroll Prep believes that Thai language and culture are deeply rooted in a child’s sense of identity and play a vital role in fostering pride in who they are.

We believe children should not be forced to choose between languages.
Children have the natural ability to acquire multiple languages, and they deserve to grow up with the understanding that their nationality and heritage are just as valuable and respected as any other in the world.

At Carroll Prep, children are given the opportunity to learn Thai meaningfully and deeply, alongside English and other languages, in a learning environment that honors their roots while opening doors to a global future.

Community and Belonging

Carroll Prep School is more than just a place to learn; it is a community where every child belongs. We foster a sense of belonging and connectedness among our students by promoting respect, kindness, and cooperation. Through daily interactions and group activities, children learn the importance of empathy, teamwork, and being part of a diverse and inclusive community.
